I wrote recently on the complexities of achieving GDPR compliance in an environment. Last week Oracle published the following MOS note: Oracle E-Business Suite Data Removal Tool Roadmap (Doc ID 2384629.1) which whilst doesn’t contain a great deal of information, is worth bookmarking.
The current planned delivery timeline (subject of course to Oracle’s non-commitment statement etc) is May 2018. There is, as of yet, no indication on whether this will be included in the foundation license or whether it will incur additional fee’s/licenses.
The interesting part is the last paragraph in the Details section which indicates that the tool will be able to remove/replace data in custom tables. I’m thinking therefore that this will be a tool acting at the database level. Which doesn’t of course cover descriptive/key flexfields, EIT’s, SIT’s, parameter defaults, and the various other places one can hold custom data fields.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on the above and am very interested to see what’s in the final product.
