With Phase II development kicking off later this month, we caught up with the Ninety One Rewards team on how they have found working with Beyonds’ Compensation Manager Application, which went live in January this year.
This is what they had to say.
What were the main issues you were trying to overcome by having the Compensation Manager Tool implemented?
We had always relied on various excel spreadsheets to manage our annual compensation review. We therefore wanted to implement a compensation management tool to:
- Create efficiencies in our processes – freeing up our team to spend more time working with managers to analyse and refine their proposals as opposed to spending time on the processing and tracking of proposals.
- Make the process more robust and auditable – removing manual mistakes, avoiding having different versions of the same spreadsheet in use/circulation and having a clear audit record of who changed what and when.
- Provide managers with a superior user experience – moving from manually making proposals in a complex spreadsheet to a simplified screen on the compensation management tool. This has led to better outcomes and less iterations during the process as managers are working on a clear, easy to use interface rather than navigating a complex spreadsheet.
- Create a direct link in with our finance system (both within Oracle architecture).
What has the Compensation Manager tool done to help you overcome these issues and how have your users found working with this tool so far?
The compensation management tool has achieved the above for us, the key was the flexibility of the tool to be adapted to our company structure and compensation policy so that the switch from spreadsheets to the tool was relatively seamless for managers (although required up front work from the Reward and Finance teams!). The feedback we have received from managers after the first year was very positive and, as a Reward team, it has been transformative to how we run the annual review process.
